About Us

Who we are

Formed in 1898 and 1902 respectively, the Centenary and Thurles co-operatives have maintained the co-operative vision of better farming, better business and better living for its many members and their families throughout their long history.

The modern-day Centenary Thurles Co-operative Society was formed in 2005 through the merger of Thurles Co-op and Centenary Co-op. Over the years the role of the Co-operative has adapted to meet the needs of our members and our community. A cornerstone of our business is our Centenary Home & Garden retail network which has five branches throughout Co. Tipperary. Our stores are dedicated to the provision of high quality home and garden products, with a strong commitment to everything local.

What we do

We are home and garden experts, bringing you all your household and garden needs for the season, with some great value offers.

Our range extends across DIY and home improvement, tools and building supplies, to farm and dairy hygiene, pet care, clothing, outdoor furniture, home and giftware, and on to fully stocked garden centres with specialist horticulturists on hand to give you expert advice.

At our recently modernised network of branches, we pride ourselves on our knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. If you can’t find what you’re looking for just ask, and if it isn’t in stock we’ll do our best to order it in.

The local community

Underpinning all we do, is our commitment to the community in which we operate and a genuine recognition of the fact that without the support of our farmers, shareholders and the wider public, we wouldn't enjoy the successes that we do.

Today, with over 100 years of growth and development behind us, Centenary Home & Garden Thurles is well positioned to serve the community for many years to come. We are extremely proud of our continuing ties with the Tipperary community and are delighted for our own Thurles Fresh Milk to be sponsoring the Tipperary GAA Academy, the Tipperary Greyhound Cup, the School Milk Programme, and a range of cultural, sporting, educational and charitable endeavors.

The Topline group

We are committed to matching local knowledge with great prices to offer the best value to our customers. This has been ensured by our affiliation with Topline, Ireland’s largest hardware buying group, since 2001. The benefits of their bulk purchasing power, strategic partnerships and industry expertise, all add value to the products and services that we offer our customers in Centenary Home & Garden stores.
